It’s really disheartening to look down at your RSS Feeds in outlook and think “Wow, I have 70 unread messages from bink.nu today!” and see a total of something rediculous like 980 total unread RSS items. I try to stay on top of my RSS feeds as much as possible, and I hate to fall behind.
That’s why it’s really annoying that I continue to get duplicate (and sometimes triplocate) items in my RSS folders. From doing a little research, it seems this is a pretty well known problem. One of the reasons for this bug is that the Outlook RSS feeds attempt to sync with your Exchange Server, AS WELL AS the external website from which they are pulling updates from. So, on my desktop, I download my RSS feeds. Then, on my laptop, Outlook downloads my feeds AS WELL AS syncing the RSS folders from my desktop (where the items already exist) resulting in duplication.
I hope this gets fixed quickly - I love having all my RSS feeds and email in one place, but the duplication makes it really difficult to manage.

It’s not just when using Exchange Server. I’m not using Exchange at home, just POP/SMTP, but I still have this problem. It seems far more likely to occur with Feedburner feeds than others, although I’ve occasionally had this problem with other feeds as well. Deleting the feed and re-adding it solves the problem with that feed temporarily, but it’s pretty annoying to do on a regular basis.
I like your blog, this post is really good, but please vary your topics, it will broad your readership.
